Jag ska erkänna att jag var lite deppad imorse. Regnet öste ner och allra helst ville jag bara krypa ner under täcket igen. Men så kom en klasskompis förbi och sa att min klassföreståndare sökte mig. När jag knallade upp till lärarrummet visade det sig att hon hittat ett paket från Japan, adresserat till mig, i sitt fack samma morgon. Både hon och jag var lika förvånade när jag tog emot det. Det innehöll brev från två gulliga läsare och som även skickat med lite smått och gott. Så nu vill jag bara göra ett inlägg och tacka er, Mio och Akane, ni gjorde min dag idag!

I have to admit I wasn’t in my best mood this morning. The rain poured down, and I just wanted to go back to my bed again. But then a classmate came over and said that my class teacher searched me. When I went up to the teacher’s room, it turned out that she had found a package from Japan addressed to me, at her desk that morning. Both she and I were surprised when she handed it to me. It contained letters and presents from two cute followers. So now I just want to make a post and thank you, Mio and Akane, you made my day today!

Morgondimma över ängarna, alldeles nyplockade morötter som fortfarande är lite jordiga när man äter dem, en perkulator som låter som någon som snarkar när man kokar kaffe i den, stickade tjocktröjor som luktar trähus, knottriga ben när man klättrar upp på bryggan efter ett dopp i det kalla vattnet och kajsas mormors goda rababerkräm med sojamjölk på en solvarm veranda. Ja, ni kanske börjar förstå i vilket tema min helg har förflutit. Att åka till varuträsk är lite som att sätta sig i en tidsmaskin och kliva ut mitt i en av alla mina somrar på landet när jag var liten. Fast tillsammans med Siri, Ebba, Kajsa och Karin förstås. Känner ni igen den känslan?

Morning mist over the meadows, so freshly picked carrots that are still a little muddy when you eat them, a percolator that sound like someone who snores when you make coffee in it, knitted thick sweaters that smells like wooden walls, goosebumps on your legs when you climb up on the bridge after a swim in the cold lake and Kajsa’s grandmother’s good rhubarb cream with soy milk on a sunny porch. Yes, you might begin to understand in what theme my weekend has passed. Going to Kajsa’s grandparents inVaruträsk is a bit like travelling in a time machine and step out in the middle of one of all my summers on the countryside when I was younger. But togheter with Siri, Ebba,Kajsa and Karin of course. Do you recognize that feeling?

I veckan kontaktade jag Teresa Grundin för att prata lite om höstens starkaste sminktrender, vilka som är de fulaste skönhetstrenderna genom tiderna och hur det är att jobba i den hårda modebranchen egentligen. Jag menar, här snackar vi ju ändå om en otroligt erfaren person på området som har jobbat med allt ifrån H&M, ELLE och Vouge till Kate Moss. Läs artiklen här!

This week I contacted Teresa Grundin, one of Swedens biggest Make Up Artists to get to know a little bit more about this seasons make up-trends and what it’s like to work in the though fashion industry. And she know this industry well, she has worked with everything from Elle, H&M, Voge to Kate Moss! I’ve translated her answers for you below:

Hi Teresa! You must have one of the world’s most fun jobs. What made you become a Make up artist, and how did you get to where you are today? – I have definitely the world’s best job! I started to educate myself to hairdresser, then I moved to Stockholm and educated myself to a make up artist. Then followed a period of hard work as an assistant to several different makeup with no salary at all. But it was worth it because that’s when I started to build up the amazing contacts that I have today!

You have been responsible for the make up in many extremely big productions. Is there any specially fun memory you remember? – This is the hardest question of all because I, through my job, have got into a lot of fun and exciting situations over the years. It’ll probably be a single memory of having experienced fantastic people, hotels and places from all over the world through the job. I have among other things been in LA, Miami, New York, South Africa, India, Morocco, Shanghai, London, Rome, Rio, Mexico, Thailand, etc. and worked. It feels absolutely amazing!

Which beauty trends do you think will be the strongest this season? – The strongest makeup trends for fall, according to me, is colored lashes, smoky eyes and lips in shades of pink/cerise/burgundy. Even colored eyeshadows feels new and fresh for fall.

And finally, you’ve experienced the fashion industry from the inside, is it really as tough and ruthless as it seems in media? – Haha, no, not if you play your cards right! But it sure is pretty tough sometimes with long hours and egocentric designers but mostly it is just beautiful and a wonderful environment to work in.

Här kommer äntligen den första delen av de tågluffsinlägg jag utlovat. Jag ska försöka svara på så många av era frågor som möjligt samtidigt som jag tipsar och berättar om roliga saker vi upplevde där, och först ut är… Amsterdam! Detta var, förutom några timmar i Köpenhamn, vårt första stopp på luffen. Så det var med stora ögon och lyckorus i kroppen vi började vår promenad mot pensionatet vi bokat. Det låg bara några hundra meter bort från tågstationen och var superfint, “Canal view house” hette det och låg ovanpå en frisörsalong, just vid red light district. Det var lite dyrare än genomsnittet men rummet hade sköna sängar, badrum, kaffe, te och en enorm balkong (förvänta er ingen “canal view” dock). Vi stannade i staden i två nätter och några saker jag kan rekommendera är Waterlooplein (en enorm secondhandmarknad med gångavstånd från centrum, sista bilden), all god ost, världens största kondomeri (hur kul som helst, även det med gångavstånd från centrum, fjärde bilden) och underbart fina Vondelpark som vi åt frukost i sista dagen, innan vi satte oss på tåget mot nästa stad- Berlin.

Here is finally the first part of the interrailing posts I promised you. I’ll try to answer as many of your questions as possible while I give you tips and write about funny things we experienced there, and first up is … Amsterdam! This was, apart from a few hours in Copenhagen, our first stop on the trip. So it was with big eyes and euphoria in the body we began our walk to the guest house we had booked. It was only a few hundred meters away from the train station and it was super nice. It was called “Canal view house” and was on top of a hair salon, just by the red light district. It was a little more expensive than average but the room had comfortable beds, bathroom, coffee, tea and a huge balcony (but no “canal view” , haha). We stayed in town for two nights and a few things I can recommend is Waterlooplein (a huge second hand market, walking distance from the center, the last picture), all good cheese, the world’s largest condomerie (much fun, also within walking distance from the center, the fourth image ) and beautiful Vondelpark which we ate breakfast in the last day before we jumped on the train to the next town, Berlin.
