We arrived in Berlin late in the evening, and after finally having found a man at the station to ask for directions who understood English, we managed to take the right bus to Amstel Hotel. Amstel Hotel was really nice, it was cheap, the rooms were good and there were many young interrailers. The only bad thing was that it was located pretty far from the center but it all worked out well because you can travel with subway for free with your Interrail card in Berlin. When it comes to places to visit both Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall are obvious. Are you going to visit the Wall, I can heartily recommend the East side gallery, a place where it is covered by 100 stunning paintings by various artists (Pic 4 and 5). Berlin is pure heaven in terms of vegan food. Two places that are worth visiting even if you are not vegan is Vöner (Pic 6 and 7) and Veganz (Fig. 2 and 3). On Vöner you can eat the most delicious vegan kebab you can imagine (for real. You MUST try it!), And Veganz is both a super nice cafe and a supermarket with only vegan products. We had read about several interesting second-hand stores in town but we never had time to visit any of them before we jumped on the train to next city- Prague.
